The Duke of Edinburgh Award (the DofE Award) was established in 1956 by Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh. This award is designed for young people aged 13-24 to develop skills, engage in physical activities, and serve their communities. It encourages them to challenge themselves beyond academic study, discover their goals and passions, and become responsible global citizens.
Since its inception, the DofE Award has motivated young people to explore and discover themselves through personalized, non-competitive, and long-term projects. This aligns with GHCIS's philosophy of "Be the Best of Oneself." In recent years, an increasing number of freshmen have participated in DofE outdoor activities and challenge events, discovering a better self. They have gained confidence, courage, and friendship outside the classroom.
