Student Union


The GHCIS Student Union was established in 2016 as a bridge between students and teachers and a platform for students to show their talents. The Student Union is an active and energetic group that participates in every campus event. They understand their peers' passions, help solve problems, and wholeheartedly serve the student body. The Student Union consists of six departments: the Publicity Department, the Arts and Sports Department, the Community Foundation, the Public Relations Department, the Student Affairs Department, and the Academic Department. It is managed by the Executive Committee, ministers, and vice-ministers.

The Executive Committee


The Executive Committee is the core leadership of the Student Union. It consists of one President and several Vice Presidents. Members are elected from the ministers and vice-ministers who have substantial work experience in the Student Union. The Executive Committee coordinates and oversees all department activities to ensure smooth daily operations, guides and supervises departments, and communicates the Union’s progress to the school. They act as a bridge between students and the school administration and represents students in regular meetings with the school management team.

Departments


  • Publicity Department

    The Publicity Department communicates activities and events to students through campus bulletin boards and social media. They design posters and banners and manage event setups to create pleasant atmosphere of school events. The department also organizes unique activities, such as photography exhibitions and the “Spring/Autumn of GHCIS” essay and photo contests.

  • Arts and Sports Department

    The Arts and Sports Department organizes activities to enrich students' extracurricular lives and promote interdisciplinary skills. They plan and coordinate events like Halloween, Thanksgiving, and the Christmas Party, and participate in various campus competitions and performances.

  • Community Foundation

    The Community Foundation is a student-led charitable organization dedicated to improving the living conditions and education of children in impoverished areas. They organize impactful events like “Charity Walks,” “Hand in Hand Education Support,” and “Volunteer Teaching in Yunnan.” The Community Foundation values sustainable and effective charity work and raises funds and donations from various community groups. They encourage students to participate in community service to foster their awareness of public welfare and a sense of social responsibility.

  • Public Relations Department

    The Public Relations Department communicates with student unions from other schools and work with our school clubs and sports teams. They organize inter-school events and meetings to promote resource sharing and collaboration. The department also seeks partnerships with businesses and organizations to support Student Union activities.

  • Student Affairs Department

    The Student Affairs Department monitors campus sanitation and checks the cleanliness of classrooms and dormitories. They work with the school’s Student Affairs Office to maintain hygiene in student dorms, classrooms, the canteen, and on campus. To improve students’ quality of life, the department also posts practical tips and advice, such as healthy eating habits and life hacks, on the Student Union’s official WeChat account. Their work not only pertains to school sanitation but also impacts students' physical and mental well-being and overall development.

  • Academic Department

    The Academic Department organizes subject-related activities to foster an academic atmosphere in the school. They implement academic student-tutor programs, School Calligraphy Competition, and English Dubbing Contests to spark students’ interest and enthusiasm for learning. They are innovative in planning both engaging and educational activities. Additionally, the department addresses students' academic needs and challenges. They actively provide learning resources and support to create a positive learning environment.
